More NW Calgary garage sale activity this weekend as the Evanston-Creekside Community Association presents its annual parade of garage sales on Saturday, June 16, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

The sales actually span all across Evanston-Creekside as well as the neighbouring communities of Kincora and Sage Hill as well.  So make sure you dust off your bargaining skills and get out early to get the first crack at the plethora of garage sale bounty!

A great event is taking place on Saturday, June 9 in the Northern Hills Communities as area residents will hit the streets for their Annual Community Clean-Up Event!  Volunteers will be brandishing garbage bags and taking on any litter and garbage they can find in local parks, streets and green spaces.

In addition to the pick-up, there will also be collection points set up at the Panorama Hills E-Centre by both eCycle solutions, to drop off your old electronics, and by WINS, to donate gently used household items for families in need.

As a great wrap-up for all the hard work Centre Street Church will be sponsoring a BBQ for all the waste warriors and volunteers.

NHCA ANNUAL COMMUNITY CLEANUP EVENT PAGE

For all you bargain hunters out there we have two more NW Calgary communities hosting their Parade of Garage Sales this weekend; Tuscany and Silver Springs.

Both events run on Saturday, June 9 from 9 AM until 3 PM and combined will offer over 350 individual garage sales.  You can bet the hardcore “garage saler’s” will be out much earlier than 9 AM however and many of the sales will run later as well.

So break out your loonies and toonies and get ready to bargain for some spectacular hidden treasures...or just some old Atari games and Pat Benetar LP’s!

Not an exclusively NW event but we’re sure that all of the NW area Tim’s will be bustling for their annual Camp Day that takes place Wednesday, June 6.

On Camp Day, Tim Hortons restaurant owners generously donate all proceeds from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation (THCF), helping send more than 15,000 kids each year on an unforgettable, life-changing, fun-filled camping adventure that will inspire them for years to come. Last year alone, thanks to Tim Hortons guests and the efforts of more than 3,700 Tim Hortons restaurants across North America, $9.9 million was raised.

We have one of six the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation (THCF) camps for kids right in our backyard with the Tim Horton Children’s Ranch located on 150 beautiful acres in Kananaskis Country.

So make sure you leave a few minutes early for work tomorrow so you can stop at your local Tim’s and buy a coffee or go onto the official Tim Horton’s Camp Day webpage and contribute by purchasing a virtual donation item and help surpass last year’s incredible total.

Another sure sign spring is officially here, aside from all the rain, is opening day of the Calgary Stampeders official training camp.  Rookie camp started this past week but the rest of the squad straps on the pads for the first time this Sunday, June 3 at McMahon at 9:05 AM and 4:20 PM.

This season marks the beginning of a new era for the red and white with the departure of all-stars Henry Burris and Joffrey Reynolds, thrusting Drew Tate and John Cornish, who seized the reigns last year, into the limelight.

There will be some great battles at this year’s camp and Sunday’s action will be your first opportunity to scout your favourite players and positions.
